CAVEAT: The information presented in this series of posts is important to message receivers and message givers, but is not intended as a certification process to vouch for or teach everything that these individuals need to know. Always keep in mind that an individual has free will and should never sacrifice his/her free will to a psychic message or to a message giver.

HOW DO YOU AS THE RECIPIENT DEAL WITH A PSYCHIC MESSAGE?
WHAT LIFE-AFFIRMING RESPONSIBILITIES DOES THE RECIPIENT HAVE WHEN RECEIVING A PSYCHIC MESSAGE?

Let’s review some information given in Part 1. Psychic Messages...As a recipient of a message/reading, you do have responsibilities

As a recipient of a message/reading, you do have responsibilities.

The purpose of this write-up is to provide some basic information about the positive actions that I generally refer to as “life-affirming actions” a recipient can take and a little bit about the etiquette involved with being a psychic. It focuses on three areas: (1) how to maximize the benefit of the message; (2) how to get the best results as the recipient of a message; and (3) what to do if you (the recipient) are given a negative or distressful message.

Hopefully, the information presented in Part 1 has established enough ground information to allow us to focus on two important short-comings the recipient may encounter when receiving a psychic message; i.e., (a) the vague message or reading that is so broad as to be meaningless; and (b) the message that is of a negative nature – basically the way the message is stated has a negative structure.

VAGUE OR NEBULOUS MESSAGES

First, let’s deal with a message you liked receiving at the time, but later you think about the outcome only to find yourself at a loss for action (life-affirming things you can do).

Sometimes a seemingly positive message has a built in trap. The trap is when you forget that the psychic gives you possible/probable futures and that you have a responsibility to focus your energy to make it a life-affirming action toward helping the message to manifest. Another trap is when you treat the message as if it were fatalistic; when you attribute the message to fate, it generally means that you give up your free-will. This is also called a “self-confirming prophecy.” For example,

  • The recipient receives a message that he/she will be moving to Florida sometime soon. So, the recipient immediately quits his/her job and moves to Florida. Okay, this action may not really be that bad, but what if the practitioner had said, “You will be receiving a large sum of money in the next year.” WOW, I’m ready, so the message receiver goes out and buys a luxury car or some expensive jewelry and moves into an expensive house. But the problem is “where is the money?  And, how much money is a large sum of money?” Large to the message receiver can be hundreds, thousands, or more than large is to the message giver.  Or, focusing back on the move to Florida, it turned out to be a disaster – the individual hates Florida, cannot find a decent paying job, and lost custody of his/her children due to charges of abandonment.   Remember, the message receiver is not stuck with the message; messages can be changed (free will)!
  • The psychic tells you that you will meet a tall dark stranger who will sweep you off your feet and take you on romantic trips. Okay, I like that message, but realize that it is still your life and you still need to take appropriate life-affirming action. Say after you get such a message, you just sit at home and wait for the attractive stranger to knock on your door and find you - you may end up sitting around lonely for a long time; or maybe you were to meet the attractive stranger while standing in line waiting for a movie, but you were sitting at home waiting and so you miss the opportunity. Or, you do meet a tall dark stranger and get swept off your feet; only to find that after the initial romantic escapades, he is unemployed, lazy, and boring – not interested in what you do or say. So what do you do with this message of meeting a tall dark stranger? You get dressed up and you make visits to places you love – say you love camping and hiking, then go on a camping trip with a group and be open to safely meeting new people.
  • Or, for example, the psychic tells you that a wonderful career change is in store for you and it will involve a substantial pay increase. Do you wait? What is your responsibility? Are you in a viable career area? Does your current employer offer advancement opportunities? Are you interested in some specific career path, but it requires some specific training.  Are you interested in obtaining the needed training?
  • Or another example, the psychic tells you that you will win a brand new car. Wow! But that doesn’t mean you will win one – you still must take some actions, like completing a sweepstakes application or going to a Bingo game. And, you need to be prepared for the supporting financial costs; e.g., Oprah gave everyone in her audience a brand new car. Then the IRS told all these win-fall Oprah members that they owed thousands of dollars in income taxes.

LIFE-AFFIRMING ACTION

So, one of the warnings about a wonderful or really good message is that the psychic is seeing a probable event in your future. You still need to take life-affirming action.

Point of reference: I use the term “life-affirming” action a lot. When it involves the receipt of a message, it means a couple of things:

First, that the practitioner is providing a message formatted in such a way that it encourages a positive outlook. For example, the message giver says, “I see a terrible car crash around you and it involves serious injuries.” Can this message be presented in a life-affirming manner/format? Well yes! For example, the message giver can say, “I am picking up some mechanical problems with your automobile that could result in physical injuries.”

But what are you the message receiver responsible for?  You (the recipient) have several life-affirming options; they are…(1) you put yourself, your family, your car in a circle of White Light for protection and you ask your spirit guides to protect you and others; (2) you should be sure that you and your passengers wear your seatbelts at all times, especially on short trips; and (3) you take your car in for a full mechanical inspection.  A couple of actions such as these can change the outcome, e.g., avoid an accident and/or avoid physical injuries.

NEGATIVE AND DISTRESSING MESSAGES/READINGS

Should a practitioner only give pleasurable and joyful messages? The fact is there are times it is the practitioner’s responsibility to be honest and realize that their message may sound blunt or harsh.

Because the example of a serious car accident in the recipient’s life that potentially involves serious physical injury is harsh, can you, the message receiver, do anything about it? Do you automatically have to accept it as a factual event? First, ask the psychic (message giver) to help you with self protection. Also, ask, “what can I do to prevent this accident and potential injury?” The important thing to remember is that most negative or distressful future events can be changed. As the message recipient, remember the practitioner is getting a potential outcome, not a fatalistic/fate based outcome. You can change it. The fact is, if you get a really positive message, you don’t have to accept it either; or you can modify it in many ways. To use the move to Florida message again – you like the idea, but you have a career that is really important to you so you mentally decline the offer; thank the spirits for the offer to move to Florida, however, you have decided to stay right where you are.  Keep in mind that no matter what the message, you have options:

  • You can immediately put yourself in a protective circle of White Light.
  • You can ask the spirits and guides to provide you with helpful recommendations. You should ask for at least three confirming mini-messages. One confirming message may be a coincidence, but three are generally significant. Using the automobile accident message as an example; the confirming helpful messages may come in any number of serendipitous forms; for example: (1) as you get on an elevator the occupants are talking about a highly qualified service mechanic that is really close to your home; (2) you are walking in a grocery store and a magazine falls off the rack with an advertisement about getting your tires and car’s front-end checked; and (3) you receive a notice from where you bought your car warning you of a service recall. I always ask for three confirmations to focus on helpful recommendations.
  • You can/should stop listening to that particular psychic/individual that gives negative and distressful messages without providing information about taking life-affirming positive actions.
  • You can be even more assertive and ask that only spirits, guides, etc., who bring you life-affirming messages, be made available in your readings. Yes, you can restrict spirits and guides who are not going to provide life-affirming messages. An open invitation to spirits and guides may bring in malicious ones; so be assertive about inviting life-affirming help.
  • CAVEAT: If the psychic or medium or witch tells you something distressful and then makes a pitch involving buying their expensive services, get up and leave immediately! The thing is almost everybody has some problems in their life; and another fact is that most psychics or mediums are unable to fix your problem(s), but are/should be willing to use protective energy – circle of White Light – for free.  If the medium, etc., is not willing to use protective energy, get up and leave immediately! Always ask and seek information about the reputation of the psychic/faith healer.

Now, if you believe you have serious problems, seek professional earth-plane help or go to a second psychic who is not affiliated with the first one. If it involves a medical or psychological problem, go to a medical doctor or psychologist/psychiatrist. The Internet is a wonderful resource for finding groups that can help an individual with any type of problem…health, money, abusive spouse, rape, post traumatic stress disorder, etc.

If your message involves a medical or psychological problem, go to a medical doctor or psychologist/psychiatrist.

To continue, I have gone to psychic/faith healers, but I set a ceiling on what I will pay them. And, if their psychic message is about a health problem, I see a regular doctor and, as needed, specialists.

Second, a most important rule is…be cynical when any psychic or medium or witch starts offering/selling you their expensive services. The bottom-line is you are still responsible for your life. Don’t throw away your personal energy (free-will) or money.

My third rule is when you go to a psychic or medium, ask them to focus on life-affirming actions and joyful things in your life.

Here is a big tip: Before you go to see a medium, psychic, or witch or even plan on participating in a séance, take 15 minutes to write down questions you want addressed/answered or that you want help with from spirit guides. The interesting thing is if your mind and energy are focused then you will get answers without having to ask.

CONCLUSION

In conclusion, here is a message that I use whenever giving or receiving messages.  I highly recommend that you too use it, both when you are giving a message and when/if you are receiving a message.

Close your eyes and calmly affirm…
”I am completely surrounded, permeated, cleansed, and protected with white, blue, and silver energies. Only truth and good, love and light can come to me, go from me, come through me, or stay with me. All that touches me and all that I share with others is for my good and the good of all concerned.
I Am Peace; I Am Light; I Am Love.”
